Chief Innovation Officer for Commercial Banking at JPMorgan Chase
Since beginning his career as a tech entrepreneur in Silicon Valley, Sam has held executive innovation, product, and design roles in some of the world’s largest companies. He has a passion for not only introducing new innovation and transformation opportunities but seeing these scale in large organizations to bring value to customers.
Sam Yen currently is the Chief Innovation Officer for Commercial Banking at JPMorgan Chase. Sam is responsible for leading Digital, Platforms and Innovation helping redefine JPMorgan customers’ digital experience. He joined JPMorgan in 2018 to lead digital transformation in the Commercial Real Estate business before expanding his remit across Commercial Banking. Formerly, he was SAP’s first Chief Design Officer and the Managing Director for SAP’s Silicon Valley Labs. He was responsible for driving design and user experience across the company. Sam also led SAP’s Design Thinking Practice both internally and for clients. During his 13-year tenure, SAP became recognized as one of the world’s leading design-centered organizations (DMI design value index) and won several prestigious design awards including several Red Dot awards.
Sam has taught at the Hasso Plattner Institute for Design at Stanford (the "d.school") as a Consulting Associate Professor and is a regular guest speaker at Stanford's Graduate School of Business on topics of creative cultures in organizations.
